Savage and Cooke Second Glance American Whiskey – Billed as an American whiskey, this is a five year old spirit made from a mash of 95% corn, 4% rye, and 1% malted barley and sourced from Kentucky, but aged in used Bourbon barrels, not new oak. Finished, as noted, in Cabernet casks.

Maybe you've had a whisky finished in wine barrels before. Regardless of what that experience was, this requires another look. Made from a 95% corn mash and proofed with fresh Alexander Valley spring water this is a perfect example of what great corn whisky can be. It has the chewy fullness and easy drinking nature of corn whisky, but the complexity of a fine Cabernet. Truly more than the sum of it's parts.
