Still deep ruby color. Highly spiced aromas of dark currant, earth and a lovely floral wisp introduce rich and relatively full-bodied flavors that possess a beguiling texture thanks to the abundant dry extract, all wrapped in a delicious, complex and lingering finish where the only reproach is a hint of dryness. Still, the dryness isn't fatal to the overall sense of balance though I would suggest having this with an appropriate dish. For my taste this hasn't quite arrived at its peak though it's not so far away that it couldn't be enjoyed now even given the large format bottling.
An outstanding effort, the 2001 Echezeaux offers aromas of cherries, spices, and earth. Medium-bodied, fleshy, and feminine, it reveals waves of very pretty cherries in its lengthy character. (PR)
Good full, deep red. Vibrant aromas of raspberry, minerals, violet, tobacco and mint; I might have picked this blind as coming from Chambolle-Musigny. Bright, sharply delineated and primary, with lovely inner-mouth aromatic lift and a note of licorice. Finishes firmly tannic, bright and long, with a distinctly perfumed character. (ST) 90+
