Toasty aromas of seared lemon, citrus pith and ashy Brie rind show on the nose of this bottling from the longtime grape-growing family. The palate is extremely focused and sharp, offering lime sorbet, green pear and more pithy qualities, wrapped in a compellingly grippy texture. (MK)
The 2015 Chardonnay Estate (Sta. Rita Hills) has developed a good bit of flavor complexity over the last year. Orchard fruit, yellow flowers, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes all develop in the glass. The 2015 has picked an element of reduction that was not present in the wine a year ago. That is more an observation rather than a critique, but also a reminder of the style Greg Brewer favored when he was the winemaker here. (AG)
