K&L Notes

40 year old vines. The grapes come from a unique geographic site considered to be one of the warmest spots in Alsace, to such an extent that, in times gone by, it was even nicknamed ‘Little Senegal’. This vineyard, with a soil composed mainly of limestone, is situated in the middle of a rocky cirque, sheltered from the north and east winds. And thanks to its south-facing exposure, the grapes ripen beautifully. With its dry character, this wine unveils generous candied citrus and smoky notes. You are instantly swept up by this nuanced, profound, and incisive register, which lengthens into forthright and elegantly crisp aromas on the palate.

Flinty and bright with notes of citrus and stone fruits this delicious Riesling is exactly what I am looking for in an Alsatian Riesling. Structured with excellent body and weight this gorgeous mineral and fruit-driven offering is the perfect wine to enjoy with Asian cuisine as well as fish and fowl.
Top Value! Drink from 2018 to 2025

I had the privilege of meeting Cecile Meyer this year at Prowein and tasting through her Josmeyer wines. A stunning line-up indeed! Working with her sister Isabelle, they farm biodynamically and are making some of the most exciting wines in all of Alsace. Le Dragon was a particular standout with its searing minerality, apple and stone fruit notes and lengthy finish. I just had a chance to revisit the Dragon now that it has arrived and it was equally engaging. This has everything I look for when I want gorgeous dry Riesling. Precise minerality, expressive fruit and a persistent finish. I'm so glad we have these wines on our shelves now as this is just the beginning.

Alsace is one of the most scenic and historic regions in France. They have a long tradition of wine making but don’t quite receive the attention they deserve. Josmeyer has been producing wine here for six generations and as of 2004 practice fully organic and bio-dynamic viti-culture. The resulting wine captures the essence of Riesling. The wine is dry displaying tell tale notes of zesty citrus and a touch of minerality. Medium weight on the palate with good long persistence and energy. I’m quite fond of this wine and would strongly urge you try a bottle. I think it’s a brilliant example of what Josmeyer and the region of Alsace are capable of.

What a neat and different take on Alsatian Riesling. The warmth of the site definitely comes through, giving a slightly nuttier, riper, more complex mouthfeel. It almost hearkens of botrytis without any of the sweetness. This wine is dry with great length and minerally undertones. This is a fun one.
