Leading off the Saint Joseph releases and from multiple vineyards throughout the appellation, the 2016 Saint Joseph La Source offers loads of burning embers, blackberries, licorice and roasted herb characteristics. With medium to full-bodied richness and ripe, present tannin, it's another balanced, classic wine from Ferraton to drink over the coming decade.
Simple nose and palate with black fruit and thick, mouth-coating tannin on the palate. Peppery finish. Quite a mouthful for now – leave for a few years to settle. (RH) 16/20
A blend of numerous different parcels throughout the appellation, the 2016 Saint Joseph La Source features notes of tar and black olive, a certain stony austerity and a crisp, firm finish. Give this medium-bodied wine a couple of years in the cellar. (JC)
