This famed slope in Morgon has produced yet another powerful, structured wine. This one, with dark black fruit, rich tannins and plush texture, is dense and delivers great ripe fruitiness. With its tannins and acidity it will age. *Cellar Selection* (RV)
The 2016 Morgon Côte du Py is 20% aged in neutral oak barrels. It offers clean and precise red cherry, wild strawberry and subtle loamy tones on the nose. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, a gentle but insistent grip courtesy of its fine tannin, delivering darker, slightly more saturnine black fruit toward the spicy finish. This is possibly the best 2016 from Lucien Lardy this year and deserves applause given that it was not an easy vintage. (NM)
