Tasting Notes

The Fallet family traces its wine growing history back to 1610, and following the marriage of Geneviève Dart and Gaston Fallet in 1953 the Fallet-Dart brand was founded in 1970. The vintage wines are generally 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir that fermented in a mix of oak barrels and stainless steel tanks and aged for at least seven years.

Another staff and customer favorite, Fallet-Dart delivers all the quintessential characteristics in tasty champagne and the 2010 vintage is no different. The nose has a hint of toast, ripe fruit and an essence of richness you’ll definitely get giddy about! On the palate, there’s ripe strawberries, balanced acidity and a nice, clean finish. What’s more fun is that you can do a side-by-side tasting with the 2008 (if they last long!) and compare what each vintage offers.

Rich and creamy nose! On the palate, lively acidity and an (overall) clean character with lemon curd, baked apple and citrus flavors.

Last year we all fell in love with the 2008 Fallet-dart, a true example of the vintage. Now the 2010, a sunnier vintage with balanced wines is here to steal your heart. It is the same breakdown as the '08, 70% Chardonnay (mostly from Fallet-dart's personal, and oldest, Clos) and 30% Pinot Noir. The nose in entrancing with sweet citrus and gentle minerality that is mirrored on the richly textured but balanced palate. The acidity is not lost but keeps a juicy freshness on the long finish.

The 2010 Fallet Dart Brut is classic and opulent, with rich aromatics of red apple skin, walnut and spiced cherry. The palate is balanced, but ripe, with mild acidity and fine bubbles. What I enjoy most about this wine is the surprising finish, which offers an almost tannic pull, which makes it a wonderful wine to pair with fatty fare like foie gras.
