This is a property very close to Pauillac, and it's one to watch out for now, and in the future. These wines are well-made, value-driven, with good depth and length. Proprietor Patrick Bernard owns 50 hectares of gravel soils and with the aid of winemaker Xavier Michelet, produces elegant, silky, and vibrant wines that won't break the bank.

The Peyrabon was one of the first Bordeaux I remember tasting when I started working at K&L and I am stoked to see that we now have it in the 2001 vintage. I have really come to appreciate the 2001 vintage because many of the wines are in a fantastic drinking window and are just begging to be open and drunk. The Peyrabon showcases soft fruit and lovely integrated tannin with a beautiful acid core. Balanced between the sweet fruit and the earthy leather and tobacco, this is a perfect wine for today, not necessarily for cellaring.

Here is a property we discovered on our April 2012 Bordeaux trip and we have sold well the 2000, 2003, 2004, and newer vintages. Somehow we missed this 2001 all these years. We tasted it early this year and here it is. We love the 2001 Bordeaux vintage and you will love this value red. Softer than the 2000 and 2004 and mor classic than the 2003. A must try.
