Winery Notes: "Brothers Aaron and Jesse Inman grew up a little differently than your average kids in America; they were raised "on the river" in Northern California by gold-mining parents - yep, prospectors - whilst living in a bus that hopped from mining claim to mining claim. This is, of course, the short and sweet version. Needless to say, such an upbringing creates a different perspective on life and life’s challenges - and making wine. For most miners back then prospecting was about the lifestyle, not the gold or silver. For Aaron and Jesse, winemaking is about people drinking and enjoying their wines, not the terroir, the clones, or expensive French oak barrels. Both Aaron and Jesse got their chops by serving wine - working in tasting rooms, tending bar, and being face-to-face with people enjoying wine rather than just tasting and evaluating it. Both ended up working for their uncle at August Briggs Winery in Napa Valley, learning the ropes of the industry. This County Cuvee Pinot Noir is a blend of three legit vineyards in three different California grape growing counties. The vineyard breakdown is as follows: 56% Vista Verde Vineyard - San Benito County, 24% Morelli Lane Vineyard - Sonoma County and 20% White Sage Vineyard - Monterey County. The wine was aged for 10 months in 100% French oak barrels, of which 10% were new."

Good quality Pinot Noir used to be impossible to find for under $15. This goes back to the Sideways days. Then all the vineyard owners began to rip out Merlot and plant Pinot Noir. Now days we can be selective with our value pinot noir picks and wait for a wine like this to come along. The Lucky Rock is fruit driven wine that shows a lovely vibrancy, great pedigree and a long lingering finish. This is great wine to have around the house for solid drinking red that is sure to please.

A mind boggling value in California Pinot Noir. Lucky Rock is made by a couple young guys driven by one singular mission...to make delicious and affordable Pinot Noir. There's no pretense or stuffiness here...but there is great raw materials and savvy wine making know how. The fruit is sourced from three highly acclaimed vineyards: Vista Verde Vineyard (Williams-Selyem) Dutton Ranch's Morelli Lane Vineyard (Dumol) and White Sage Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands right next door to Hahn's famed Doctor's Vineyard! Fruit from all of these vineyard sites typically makes its way into $50-$60+ single vineyard wines. However the Inman brothers have used their deep connections in the wine business to secure the fruit and combine the parcels into what it is just a flat out delicious, fruit forward, easy drinking, crowd pleasing Pinot. Oh...and it's less than $15! Get some ASAP.
