A more elegant if otherwise similar array is present on the expressive nose with the exception that here there is a bit more earth character. The sleek, round and enticing medium-bodied flavors possess unusually good complexity for a villages level wine while the lingering finish displaying only a touch of rusticity.
The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is a blend of a parcel from the north of the village of Gevrey, a parcel in Aux Etelois that is not selected for that cuvée, and fruit from Pressonnnier. It felt open on the nose with raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry scents. The palate is nicely balanced, bright and pretty in the mouth with a keen line of acidity, then battening down the hatches toward the tightly coiled finish that will open by the time of bottling. There is good potential here, but it will require a couple of years in bottle. (NM)
A pure, fruit-driven bouquet of creamy cherry and raspberry is the prelude to a nicely concentrated, medium-full wine with a fine chassis of tannin and a lovely acid line that is certainly vibrant but already nicely integrated into its deep core of fruit. Drinking Window 2018 - 2028. (WK)
