Here too there is a discreet touch of wood surrounding the super-fresh and ultra-pure aromas of earth, red currant, herbal tea and a whiff of the sauvage. There is outstanding intensity to the detailed and relatively robust medium-bodied flavors that are supported by a firm core of ripe tannins on the impressively persistent and well-balanced finale where a hint of bitter cherry emerges.
The 2015 Nuits Saint George's 1er Cru les Bousselots has a very different nose compared to the Chaignots, one that is more reserved, nicely defined, perhaps more feminine in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, chalky tannin, plenty of brambly red fruit, touches of clove and even dried blood towards the composed finish that will need 3-4 years to subsume the oak.(NM)
Bright, dark red. Less porty on the nose than the Chaignots but still showing a note of black cherry syrup. Sweet black cherry and black raspberry flavors are complicated by a hint of licorice, with a slightly roasted quality emerging with air. Quite ripe and dense but more about fruit than minerality. Has good mid-palate stuffing to support its tannins
