This is a delicious bottle of Pinot filled with ripe, vibrant red and dark fruit along with a touch of smoke and a hint of spice. There is wonderful depth of flavor and a balancing acidity that tempers the sweetness of the fruit and adds fine length, In today's high quality Pinot Noir market this is a bargain.

Lifted, aromatic, high-toned, powerful, spicy, earthy serious Pinot Noir that is affordable and ready to drink? Yes, you just have to know where to look. For example in Germany where the red wines have been getting better and better (hey thanks global warming) although to be honest they have always had amazing reds that have slid under the radar. A beautiful balance of ripe fruit, earth and acid and all ready to enjoy.

Let me tell you a secret, "the best value Burgundies at K&L are found in the German section". I know that this is a very controversial thing to say but there is a lot of truth to it. While there are good many good red Burgundy's to be had at this or lower prices those wines do not have lift, charm, poise, complexity, nor purity that this wine does. This wine lives up to the expectations that the appellation "Burgundy" classically has. The one thing that this wine does not have, is a library of books examining the uniqueness of the regions "Terroir". There will be, we just have to wait for them. Think I am crazy? You might be right, but you'll have to try a bottle to confirm it. You will not regret it.

The nose of this wine is pure Pinot that seems slightly more new world than old due to its wonderfully ripe fruit; however immediately behind that are bits of earth and spice that gives me more of a sense of place and terroir. On the palate it shows an elegance, balance, and supple nature that make it a pleasure to drink. The flavors are classic Pinot fruit with perhaps a bit of stem and earth. I think of this wine with a roast chicken, something savory but not overwhelming.
    Drink from 2018 to 2020
