Somewhat formulaic, this 2001 Pomerol exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, plenty of new oak, and ripe fruit, but it appears to lack soul. Medium-bodied, with moderate tannin, a sweet palate, but little complexity, perhaps more will emerge with additional bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2013. (RP)
Ruby-red. Enticing, expressive nose combines redcurrant, plum, tobacco, chocolate and sexy oak. Supple, nicely concentrated and fresh, with dark cherry and floral notes. Finishes with slightly dry but fairly light tannins. (ST)
This is a very good Pomerol, with chocolate, berry and light cedar aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with a good core of ripe tannins and a medium finish. Very good indeed. Best after 2007. (JS)
