From one of the larger of the great grands crus of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux, this is a dark, structured wine. It has power and juicy acidity that drive its black plum and berry fruit flavors. A dry core of tannins promises many years of maturing. Drink from 2026. *Cellar Selection* (RV)
The softness and beauty to this wine are very attractive with walnut and berry character. Hints of lemons. Medium-to full-bodied, very delicious and savory. Drink now or hold.
Medium red; not a dark 2014. Pungent, soil-inflected aromas of strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, spices, dried rose, resiny minty herbs and minerals, with spice and orange zest topnotes. Wonderfully dense and light on its feet. Utterly fine-grained, suave and delineated grand cru with great inner-mouth perfume and saline minerality to its flavors of raspberry, red cherry, spices, flowers and minerals. Classically dry Echézeaux with great class, energy and finesse, and not particularly backward. Stains the mouth with perfume on the firmly tannic, tactile, rising aftertaste. All in finesse, and hinting at the tart red berries (cranberry and pomegranate) of the year. Delivers the energy of the vintage in spades. This has been a splendid cuvée in recent vintages. (ST) 94+
The moderate wood this displayed from barrel has been almost completely integrated and easily allows the overtly spicy mixture of various red berry fruit scents that are generously laced with tea, lilac, violet and sandalwood wisps to be appreciated. There is fine concentration to the powerful, focused and sleekly muscular flavors that also coat the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm tannic spine on the balanced and impressively long finale. This manages to be at once serious yet seductive and I particularly like the sophisticated mouth feel. Note that while still very young this should drink reasonably well early on.
Aromatic, with a rose aroma giving way to ripe, macerated cherry and berry fruit, framed by sweet oak nuances. A tight, sinewy red, firm and chewy, yet very long on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2032. (BS)
Playful power defines this wine’s delicate but lasting elegance. It starts off lean, with red fruit and tense green spice. But it’s the detail in the tannins that require attention and then hold it, as if you can just see the umami edge of what this will become with age.
