Proprietor of the 50 by 50 brand, Gerald V. Casale (also known for being the bassist and one of the founders of the band Devo), fell in love with Pinot Noir later in his life. Tasting wines from all over the world while touring with Devo, Gerald became very passionate for many varietals. But when he was in France, he found his varietal soul mate: Pinot Noir. The 2015 Sonoma Coast Pinot was aged for 15 months in 70% new French Marchive Barriques and spent eight months in the bottle before release. 50%/50% blend of Dijon 667 and Pommard Pinot Noir clones from Rodgers Creek in the Sonoma Coast. Winery tasting note: "With a growing season that was a Groundhog Day carbon copy of the previous year the 2015 vintage is once again a French style, medium-bodied wine of great depth and ruby red clarity, exhibiting opening flavors of cherry and blackberry fruit followed by an almost chocolate, smoke tinged, silky finish and a hint of cinnamon."
