Intensely bright and focused, the 2016 Greco di Tufo Giallo d'Arles shows a zesty but finessed side to this beautiful white variety from Southern Italy. There is hidden complexity here that you only fully become aware of once you've had the opportunity to contemplate the wine in your glass for a few long minutes. Primary aromas of pear and preserved lemon emerge first, but they are followed by delicate notes of crushed oyster shell, zesty ginger and cinnamon. (ML)
Bright dark yellow. Aromas of peach, mango and white flowers are complicated and lifted by citrus and ginger high notes. Full-bodied but currently tightly wound, displaying very good ripeness but also a penetrating quality to the notes of peach, tropical fruit and brown spices. Closes with nifty saline minerality and freshness for a wine of such large size. (ID)
Savory and structured, this opens with enticing scents suggesting ripe yellow stone fruit, Spanish broom and a whiff of cake spice. On the round enveloping palate, fresh acidity lifts juicy apricot, yellow apple and ginger while a mineral note wraps up the finish. (KO)
Zippy acidity and a stony undertow frame this light-bodied, racy white, which offers flavors of blood orange, grated ginger and Key lime pie. Long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2023. (AN)
Spicy, creamy citrus and just-ripe apricot but also a stony mineral character as a counterpoint to the fruit. Intense, long and powerful. 17/20 points. (JH)
A dense and oily greco with hints of almonds and lemon rind. Some pear too. Full body, fruity and straight.
