The 2015 Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard gives gregarious guava, apricot and passion fruit notes with underlying suggestions of brioche, allspice, cinnamon toast and honeysuckle. Full-bodied and generously fruited in the mouth, it has an enticingly oily texture off-set by a lively backbone, finishing long and spicy. (LPB)
From the great site in Occidental, this white shines in pear, peach and pineapple flavors, while an inviting floral aroma of honeysuckle permeates the nose. Integrated oak and a creamy palate make for a fulsome, voluptuous experience, balanced and complemented by the wine's crushed-gravel minerality. (VB)
Notable more for its keen focus on fruit than for drama and bombast, the Heintz Vineyard bottling is an energetic, nicely tailored Chardonnay that is built along fairly firm lines. It is medium-full-bodied and refreshingly crisp without ever tipping too far to acidity, and, while it does not demand aging, it should stay bright and lively for a number of years. It looks to be an especially versatile companion to lighter poultry and richer fish dishes alike.
