Fans of the Wanaka Road Pinot Noir from Mount Edward should make sure to get their hands on the TED. This wine shows incredibly liveliness and energy and is a blend of Pinot grapes from Mount Edward's top vineyards. I can't believe this is their "entry level", with such an array of tasting notes and multitude of interesting flavors. This is unique from the other Pinots we have on the shelf and nice that you don't need to hold onto this one for years before its ready. Drink now.

The Ted is a classic second label of Mount Edward. The winemaking is still all done by hand from the same parcels as their high test Pinots, but the value is off the charts. My notes were very simple: "Amazingly crushable." This is the perfect casual drinking pinot noir. It's elegant, flavorful, inexpensive, and comes from a heralded producer. There is not much more to ask for.

The Mount Edward Pinots are some of our best and brightest from New Zealand. The TED is a delightful entry point with its medium bodied weight and fresh fruited tones. Loads of delightful raspberry, rose petals and light spice notes it is a great contrast to many of the world's other pinots. A terrfic value great for daily drinking and that rotisserie chicken you just picked up at the market.

The nose of this wine is bold, a really complex blend of spicy fruit intermingled with hints of leather and earth. On the palate the wine shows real depth while not being over-sized or thick, it shows great balance and a bit of grip. The flavors are a mix of crunchy, wild cherry with some savory earthy notes mixed in. The finish shows once again the wine’s excellent balance with wonderful lift on the back end. I usually find that $20 is the dividing line between Pinot Noir and wines labeled as Pinot Noir that are fine but don’t taste much like Pinot Noir, this wine has real character, depth and finish, a truly outstanding value.

Year after year Mount Edward deliver some of the best value Pinot Noirs in our entire inventory. The 2016 Ted is no exception. Made from organically grown vineyards throughout a few different sub-regions of Central Otago and hand crafted by the small team at Mount Edward HQ in Gibbston Valley. Brambly notes, wild thyme, juicy dark cherry fruit, Asian spice and clove. Pure fruit, bright acidity and wonderful silky texture. Hard to beat at this price!

Delicious, organically grown Pinot Noir for under $20! Sign me up! The lovely Ted By Mount Edward has beautiful black cherry fruit and new leather aromas and flavors, and a very long finish. If you are looking for a red to drink after work, this is a great choice, but I think it will be even better with a piece of salmon!
    Top Value!

Some of my favorite Pinots in the world come from Central Otago. This unique area produces very vibrant and ripe Pinot Noir, that always retains an elegant, structured backbone and typically has a unique savory character. That is exactly what you find here, in this new label from Mount Edward. It's classic Central Otago, though perhaps a hair lighter in body and softer in tannin than some of the other wines from Mount Edward. Definitely one of my favorite new Pinots this year!
