    Elegant and expressive, with pear and apricot fruit through the palate and shining acid typical of Billecart-Salmon’s fresh house style, this Blanc de blancs has tension and lift, balanced by a rounded texture and the rich, easygoing qualities of the excellent 2006 vintage. A blend of Chardonnay from four coveted Grand Cru villages in the Côte des Blancs – Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil, and Mesnil Sur Oger – and aged in stainless steel, this somehow feels both racy and opulent. We loved it so much, K&L bought everything that was available! Celebrate the season with this stunner.

    This vintage blanc de blancs is the epitome of the style. 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs, aged 11 years on the lees, it displays freshness, depth, concentration and focus all at once, with aromas of butterscotch, honeysuckle, lemon meringue and fresh apricots. Great weight, complexity and richness, with lift and delicacy to boot.

    This all Grand Cru blanc de blancs has not only incredible complexity and depth, but is far too easy to drink. With Chablis like earth, hints of beurre d'isigny and fresh cream, a spectacularly tight bead and a near infinite finish, you will know that you have a bottle of the good stuff here. When we had it with sushi my notes read simply "Lafon Meursault richness up front, Salon belemnita chalk on the back". This is a wow bottle of Champagne. Only 14,000 bottles, made with 20% barrel fermentation from the villages of Mesnil, Avize, Oger, Cramnat and Chouilly.

    This is definately one of the best champagnes I have had in quite a while. I tasted on 10 September and it had the most amazing nose of bread dough, pastry and cream, combined with lush, white flowers. On the palate, lemon meringue, with apricot and fresh whipped cream. After a bit of airing, the citrus comes charging through, with a nice hint of key lime. Wonderful and elegant. Long, long, finish. Tastes far more expensive that it is. I put this one up there with the 2002 NFB, which is just stellar.
