A perfect 'basic' dry Alsace Riesling. Medium-bodied with subtle lemon and pear fruit, and great elegance at the long austere finish.
The faintest hint of zesty lemon appears on the nose. The dry palate is of a concentrated slenderness, showing intense notes of ripe lemon zest but hinting at richer notions of ripe pear and candied citron. There is real impact, guided by rapier-like freshness and utter precision. This has an almost cleansing quality but is nonetheless imbued with the fruitful generosity of 2015. Lovely now, but sure to develop. Drink now through 2027. (AK)
Bright straw-green. Peony, mirabelle and mint on the enticing nose. Crisp and fresh in the mouth, with very high but harmonious acidity nicely shaping the ripe flavors of peach and lychee; is there just a trace of super-ripe grapes thrown in the blend here? Manages the neat trick of tasting lemony fresh and very light on its feet while delivering sneaky concentration and depth. Outstanding entry-level Riesling wine. (ID)
A clean-cut and minerally white that offers poached pear, beeswax, apricot and preserved lemon flavors set in a light-bodied, lithe frame. The creamy finish echoes the stony minerality. Drink now through 2027. (AN)
This is exactly how Alsace Riesling should taste, says Jean Trimbach. Rich, floral nose with tension. They had never seen such acid in such a hot season. Still quite youthful and very racy. I may even be underscoring it… 2015 was clearly an outstanding vintage. 16.5/20
The 2015 Riesling is clear and intense on the nose, coming along as a dry, fresh and well-structured classic with lingering grip and a crisp finish. The wine is dry, has finesse and a straight but elegant character with a good fruit intensity and a lingering salinity. (SR)
