K&L Notes

The winegrowing estate of Chateau les Valentines is more than a century old. The estate originally brought their grapes to the local cooperative, but when Gilles and Pascale Pons took over in 1997, they decided to make their own wine. They built a modern winery and called the domaine "Les Valentines" after their children, Valentin and Clémentine. Château les Valentines now covers approximately 100 acres. The "Le Caprice de Clémentine" is part of the second range of wines coming from the estate. Moderately priced, it is a high quality Côtes de Provence made from the traditional grape varieties Cinsault (50%) and Grenache (50%). Its easy approach shows fresh and fruity aromas indicative of the region. It is light and delicate with a pure nose and good acidity to preserve freshness. Serve with traditional Mediterranean fare such as a Niçoise salad, grilled fish and vegetables, light cheeses and such.

The bizarre belief that rosés should be reserved for light summertime sipping has all but evaporated, thankfully. These softly-hued, crisp and prismatic wines can be relished and enjoyed throughout the year with everything from salads to sushi and tilapia to tapas. As the label on this delightful rosé reads, our wines are "like the silk of a great couturier... and have the accent of the mistral and the temperament of the south... elegant, spicy, generous, delicate and brilliant." Watermelon, peach and cherry flavors charm and entice the senses. In a word, bottled joy.

Very classic Provençal Rosé. with beautiful aromatics, Framboise, citrus and a bit of peach even, but completely dry of course. Just delightful!

When it comes to a fantastic rose for under 20 bucks, the Le Caprice easily takes the cake for me... Crisp, elegant, bright acidity, this is definitely my first choice for a summer rose I should be drinking all day. Preferably in a swimming pool.
