Established in 1997 by Gil Nickel of Far Niente, the winery focuses exclusively on varietal wines from single-vineyard designations. The intention here is to share the diversity of what Napa Valley has to offer, allowing each site to singularly express itself. The winery is also keeping their practices as healthy for the environment as possible: Solar power, net-zero users of electricity, annually producing MORE energy than is consumed, organically grown grapes, replacing conventional company cars with hybrid-engine vehicles, and extensive recycling. Winery note: "The diminutive, four-acre Dragonfly Vineyard is located in St. Helena at the base of Spring Mountain. Old timers know this magical place as a “banana belt” microclimate, as its ideal summer
temperatures allow the vines to develop their notable ripe and jammy fruit. The vines benefit from the site’s deep, gravelly loam soils and gentle southern exposure, and the vineyard is one of the first to be harvested each year."
