During our recent Burgundy staff tasting, we focused on value priced wines from a famously pricey region. This was far and away the standout for me! Wonderfully perfumed and approachable, this is shockingly good for under $30. Intense, ripe red fruit, warm baking spice and lovely notes of rose petals, this wine has soft, fine grained tannin and moderate acidity. While a bottle over $20 might not be everyone's idea of a daily drinker, this drinks far above its price point, making it one of the best values in red Burgundy we currently carry.

Wonderful balance and freshness here between the bright mixed berries and raspberries that weave through the fine tannins and subtle minerals on the finish. This is well priced and well proportioned.

One of my favorite Burgundies for under $30! Initial aromas layered red fruit and subtly exotic spice. On the palate, the wine is both fresh and lively while still possessing a ripeness of fruit. Earthy mineral notes and silky tannins on the finish. Drinking well now, but will only improve with age over the next 5-10 years

I last visited Faiveley in 2015 for a full tour and tasting with Erwan Faiveley. Historically this domain has been known for creating firm, structured Burgundy. A style shift began in 2008 and now the wines are much more plush, and soft, while retaining all the pedigree you’d expect from such a venerable estate. More importantly, they renovated their facility in Mercurey. This focus has resulted in the best wines they’ve produced from the appellation. The rouge possesses all the charm and structure of a Pommard but for significantly less money. This is the most impressive Mercurey Rouge I’ve tried lately.

Wow! Faiveley does it again with another stellar offering from their Mercurey portfolio. The entry-level offering 2016 Faiveley Mercurey Rouge is a great example of the impressive goings on at Faiveley. This wine displays beautiful red fruit, ample weight and spice with fine tannins and racy acidity. A ready-to-drink Burgundy that won't break the bank and clearly over delivers at $25.99. If you loved the 2015 Faiveley Mercurey's you owe to yourself to pick this up.
Top Value! Drink from 2018 to 2025

This intensely aromatic and incredibly charming Burgundy is unbelievable! Floral, vivid aromas lead to vibrant, bright, light but full-flavored palate. It's fresh and silky with delicious raspberry and crunchy red cherries with just a hint of spice. This is stunning value Burgundy for your everyday drinking.

Being so new to Burgundy, I'm slowly exploring the area and producers, and became a fan of Faiveley at first sip. Faiveley produces fantastic Burgudian wines and to my surprise they offer a fantastic value rouge. On the nose I get a great expression of red fruit, specifically ripe strawberries, and would describe it as a bouquet of fruit. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with easy tannins and red fruit to round it out. For me, Faiveley created a classic Burgundy wine at a phenomenal price.
