Tenuta Roveglia makes one of my absolute favorite Italian white wines (Limne Lugana). After our Italian buyer was at the property earlier this year, he reached out to let me know we would be carrying their rosé too, that it was just as fabulous as their other wines and assured me I'd love it. He was right. The color is a fun shade of pink but don't let that fool you - this is DRY. Wild strawberry, herbs, sensual texture and such vivacious acidity - I can't get enough of this wine. Séverine Bourrier of Château de L'Ou and I quaffed this bottle at our recent staff party - a star winemaker from France endorsing an Italian rosé? Enough said.

The Lugana from Roveglia changed my life last summer. It absolutely took over as my house white. It came to every party I went to. At 12.99 and loaded with flavor I didn't think I could do any better. Until today. I just tasted the Chiaretto Rose from Roveglia. It's every bit as great as the Lugana, but with all of the fun of Rose. It rocks just enough plump fruit to really stand out of a pink lineup but still sits on the dry end of the spectrum. A blend of Italian varietals only a master somm would remember, it's the perfect wine to say, "Who cares? Drink it cause it is fabulous!"

A little story... This past week we had a special visitor from one of our southern French estates and she came to meet the staff and introduce some of her new wines. We had a big party with our LA staff and this little rose was poured as an aperitif. I wouldn't normally write too much about someone else's reaction but Severine (our visiting producer) was enchanted by this wine. Yours truly (me I suppose) was busy manning the grill and as such, everyone would wander by to pour a little something in my glass. Severine poured this for me because it was one of her favorite wines at that party. Now Severine is an accomplished winemaker, also making a top-notch rose in the Roussillon, and we couldn't stop talking about how fun and bright this Chiaretto was. Since I buy 99% of the French rose for K&L, I don't drift to far from my category but this Italian rose is quite the head turner. As an added FYI, we had some spicy lamb sausage, classic Italian sausage and grilled Mexican street corn rolled in creme fraiche and Cotijo cheese with it. On point on every level.

A juicy, quaffable rose from the shores of Lake Garda. Rose water, alpine strawberry, red Jolly Rancher and baking spices. A nice interplay between soft, plush fruit and crunchy acidity. A fuller, fruitier style of rose but certainly still refreshing and infinitely drinkable! Great value!

This fantastic rosé from Garda is a perfect summer time wine. The Chiaretto from Tenuta Roveglia has the breadth and power of Tavel, but without the heat or heaviness. If you are looking for a bottle that has a lot of flavor, but without excessive alcohol, you will love this!
    Top Value!

Roveglia's whites are among our favorite of late from Italy and we think their rose will be met with the same level of enthusiasm. There's so much going on here as the wine combines bold floral and red fruit aromas with a dry, crisp yet fruit-laden palate. There's just the right amount of richness and weight for more substantial cuisine yet the wine remains light on its feet.

This incredible Italian rose puts most of our other imported rosés to shame with its depth of flavor and texture, while remaining in essence refreshing and quaffable, not to mention affordable! It has flavors of red currants, dried apples, lemon and just a hint of almond, with stellar acidity for freshness and verve, and a very long pleasant finish. Stock up on this one and ride out the summer.

The nose of this wine is full of strawberry with hints of almond flowers and it gives you the sense that something special is going on. On the palate the wine has weight and richness but the perfect amount of acidity to brighten and clean. Lots of fruit and excellent minerality, with a long and complex finish.I love the wines from Tenuta Roveglia, their Lugana excite me and even more so for the price to quality ratio. I visited the winery in April and glanced at their shelves and saw a Rose’, you make a Rose’ I asked? I didn’t even know, but when I tasted it I knew this was going to be a staple for a long time at K&L, it was the Italian Rose’ at a price point that would give all of the Provencal Rose a run for their money.
