Nutty, hay, sweet apple and mineral aromas soar from the glass. The palate is full and intense with soft milky notes, sweet lemon and pithy grapefruit tones, with a lifted fresh acidity to balance the fruit. Lots of finesse and layered from here. Finishes lengthily. *Gold Medal* (DWWA 2018)
The 2016 Chablis Villages, vinified entirely in stainless steel apart from 8% in wooden barrels, has a fresh, lemon thyme, slightly earthy bouquet that is well defined and focused. The palate is fresh from the start, with a twist of fresh lime—perhaps a little too much for a Chablis—yet there is still plenty of tension and energy conveyed on the finish. Definitely go for this over the Petit Chablis as there is a marked difference this year. (NM)
The 2016 is a crisp vintage in Chablis and this bright, tangy wine reflects it. It has plenty of lemon acidity, orange zest and liveliness that has been partially smoothed out by some wood aging. (RV)
