The aromas of this wine are gorgeous, with deep blue fruit layered in subtle earth and spice notes. On the palate the wine is silky with a fuller body, classic structure and just enough of a savory character showing through the primary fruit to give a hint to it's full potential. I'd say that this wine is one to lay down for a couple years, but will definitely reward a patient collector.

If you are on the hunt for outstanding value, I highly recommend the satellite appellations in Bordeaux. As in many (if not most) instances, the wines from these lesser-known sites offer all the quality and character of their more illustrious neighbors, but for a fraction of the price. Take for example the astonishingly good 2015 Cap St George. This delightful 2015 hails from St.-Georges-St.-Emilion, a tiny area that covers a mere 190 hectares. Situated next to the famed Right Bank plateau, the soils here consist of an ideal blend of clay and limestone, producing wines of exceptional purity. This 2015 is sleek, fresh, richly fruited, and, above all, perfectly balanced. Crafted in an unabashedly modern style, but not overly done, it will appeal to both old-world and new world fans alike. The Cap St George will cellar quite nicely, but who can wait, as it is a pure joy to drink now.

This lush and balanced wine from the tiny satellite region of St. George St. Emilion drinks like a much more prestigious bottle from neighboring St. Emilion but at half the price. Scents of ripe cherry, vanilla and subtle toast blend with a middle of blackberry jam, mineral and sweet tannins with just enough balancing acidity to keep you wanting another sip. Delicious now but three to five years in a cellar should do wonders.

This vanilla toast and wild fruit exotic St. Georges St. Emilion rang in a new era in Bordeaux for me! Now the big right bank wines have all of the oak and fruit that they have had for the modern era, but without the heat or the extra heaviness. This is a super full bodied Bordeaux, but it still stays fresh and lifted. The scale of the wine is hard to believe for the money, with great sweet tannin on the finish.

From a small satellite appellation of Saint-Émilion, with all of its vineyards located on well-drained slopes, comes this gem of wine. I say that because it is a classic example of a well balanced wine - clearly crafted with utmost care. Modern, sure, but never over the top. Its medium to full body is framed by very round tannins. The sweet fruit, and a touch of vanilla/coffee spices, are supported by the perfect acidity. It is a wine sure to please those looking for a sophisticated bottle to pair with dinner.

This delicious, small production St. Emilion blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, and is medium bodied with tasty, expressive fruit flavors of currants, bramble and dark cherries, and just a hint of toast from new oak barrels. The balance of flavors is impressive and lends the wine a fineness that pairs very well with fine cuisine at a great price.

Wonderful wine-rich and round and lush. In the modern style, but with fine acidity and balance. Blackberry jam aromas with some toasty oak. Plenty of latent tannin, but the fruit overpowers the tannins.
    Drink from 2018 to 2028
