Bright purple. Cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complemented by cracked pepper, mocha and musky herbs. Expressive and gently sweet on the palate, offering supple dark fruit flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Finishes on a sweet blackberry note, with very good breadth and gentle tannins. (JR)

A first-class Zinfandel, showing the variety's briary, brambly personality. The flavors are of ripe wild summer berries, cola, pine extract, black pepper and cinnamon, wrapped into firm tannins and finishing sweet and long.

The 2010 Zinfandel Paso Robles Benito Dusi Ranch wraps around the palate with soft, lush fruit. This is distinctly Paso in its opulent, generous personality. Dark red cherries, flowers and spices flesh out on the finish. The Benito Dusi is delicious, but it stops just shy of being truly distinctive. On the plus side, it is more approachable than some of the other 2010s and should drink well upon release. (RP)
