This red offers purity and grace, backed by a sold structure. Strawberry and cherry flavors abound, matched to an elegant frame, with a firm line of tannins underneath. The bright fruit peeks through at the end, delivering equilibrium and a lingering aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2037. (BS)
Some dried flowers and woody notes with red berries and cherries. The palate has a frame of sturdy tannins around ripe red plums and dark berries. Some herbal notes and a little chew to close. Try from 2020.
Wild berry, chopped herb, truffle and tobacco scents drift out of the glass. On the firm full-bodied palate, taut close-grained tannins support dried cherry, prune, star anise and a hint of sage. You'll also detect the warmth of alcohol on the midpalate, but the fruit deftly keeps it in check. Drink 2020–2028. (KO)
The Riserva is a small selection made from the estate's older vines, with a total production of less than 3,000 bottles. Traditionally crafted, it sees lengthy ageing in large Slavonian oak botti. There's a lovely tang of refreshing acidity to balance out the warm ripe fruit, while nuances of sweet herbs, liquorice, tea and maraschino cherry linger on the palate, and the assertive tannins finish a touch dry. Concentrated ruby. Compact nose that is not open yet and with the merest suggestion of Moroccan leather. Youthful fruit that is a little vibrant with crunchy firm tannins. Quite complete and with great balance, but definitely in need of more time. 17+/20 points. (WS)
