It is pretty incredible how 3 g/L of residual sugar dosage can make such a huge difference in the taste of the wine. While the 2008 Fallet-Dart with 7 g/L dosage shows a little richer and more generous, this bottling in lean, fresh, bright, and crisp. Some Extra Brut's are so lean they are too rough on their own, but I don't think that's the case with this bottling. While it does exhibit powerful acid, there is enough fat here to keep it in sippable territory. With food or not, this was a fantastic bottling in a highly lauded vintage from one of my favorite producers.
