This is a superbly balanced and accessible Bourgogne Rouge that brings quite a buoyant personality to the table: notes of ripe raspberry, cranberry, warm spices, some herbs, earth, gentle tannins, and a lengthy finish that doesn't leave me wondering where it went. I can't always spend fancy dollars on a bottle of wine but I still want something that will satisfy my penchant for the good stuff without emptying my wallet. This fits the bill perfectly.

Easily the best buy for under $20 in our Burgundy department the 2015 Faiveley Bourgogne Rouge is a stunning value. From the very first sniff of the glass it is evident that this wine punches way above its meager price with aromas of cherries, raspberries, wild and savory herbs as well as crushed stones. The inviting nose is just the first step of the journey this wine will take you on with a palate that dazzles with an array of berry flavors nicely buffered by refreshing acidity and crisp tannins. A crunchy and vibrant red the 2015 Faiveley Bourgogne Rouge is the ideal daily drinking red Burgundy that offers a fantastic experience without breaking the bank!

The nose is classic, good fruit with a bit of savory, stemmy character and so very clean. On the palate the wine has a crunchy cranberry/raspberry flavor and texture at first and then the savory elements join in and add to the fun. The finish is balanced, shows richness yet is restrained by a delicate tannic structure while the flavors return showing that cran/raspberry intrigue with bits of savory earth. I really like this wine, it is a great value and is perfect for a roast chicken.

This wine is mighty fine for a non-village-specific red Burgundy. A little chewy, dusky, with dark fruits and a medium body. This is definitely an Old-World style, with more savory than fruity character, and a long finish. A winner from one of my favorite producers on the Burgundy shelf.

Looking for an attractively priced, everyday red Burgundy? This should be on the list. It's supple and generously fruited, the product of a very good, warm and sunny vintage, and at the same time it is plenty fresh and well framed by tannins, both a given as this is from a consistently solid, historical negociant house in Burgundy. Tasty, textbook red Burg, with a little added 2015 mojo for good measure!
