Dark ruby. Lively, sharply focused aromas of fresh raspberry, candied lavender and spicecake reveal a zesty mineral nuance that becomes more emphatic with air. Juicy, appealingly sweet raspberry, cherry and spicecake flavors deepen and spread out slowly while maintaining urgency. At once concentrated and nervy, finishing with very good focus and smooth, sneaky tannins. (JR)
This 11-vineyard blend of 51% Syrah, 31% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre and 4% Counoise represents an excellent value in the realm of expertly balanced but boisterously flavored wines. The fruity nose shows smashed raspberry, boysenberry, violet and potpourri, leading into a lively palate full of rose petals, exotic red cherries and turned earth. It's easy to drink yet intellectual as well. *Editors Choice* (MK)
A spunky blend, with personality, offering a lively core of blackberry, licorice and smoky cracked pepper flavors. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Counoise. Drink now through 2023. (TF)
The entry level cuvée is the 2015 Patelin de Tablas and it's Syrah dominated in 2015, checking in as a blend of 51% Syrah, 31% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre and 4% Counoise. Tasting like a terrific Cotes du Rhone, it offers lots of black fruits, peppered meats, leather and dried herbs in its charming, medium-bodied, utterly delicious and gulpable personality. Drink this beauty over the coming 4-5 years, and if you forget bottles for even longer, it will still be good.
Pale crimson. Sweet and polished and serious with some punchiness and vibration. Just a bit too sweet for my taste but this is proper, non-industrial wine. 16/20 points. (JR)
Composed of 51% Syrah, 31% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre and 4% Counoise, the 2015 Patelin de Tablas has a pale to medium garnet-purple color and a pronounced nose of crushed red cherries and raspberries with hints of roses, baking spices and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate is soft and expressive with plenty of freshness and a long, red berry-laced finish. (LPB)
