Nicolas Idiart, winemaker and founder of Maison Idiart, grew up with a passion for wine, which he acquired from his father and grandfather. After graduating from winemaking school at Blanquefort in Bordeaux, Nicolas' enthusiasm for Loire wines brought him to work in Chinon, Touraine, and Muscadet, with stints further afield in Australia and New Zealand. Never quite sure where his niche was, he moved in to the sales side of the wine business, mainly in North America. After 7 long and ultimately unsatisfying years of sales, he decided to go back to winemaking with an artisan approach to the terroir which first stoked his inspiration - the Loire Valley. From numerous contract sources he now makes outstanding wines from not only Sancerre, but also Chinon, Muscadet, and Pouilly-Fumé among others.
The Terroir : This Sauvignon blanc is produced from vines with an average age of 35 years old. 100% percent of these vines are planted on a sandy clay soil. The sauvignon Blanc need a fresher climat with a good water supply In order to express his unique freshness and exuberant flavors... These vines are cultivated in a well thought out manner which provides a maximum of respect for the ecosystem and the environment.
Tasting notes: This wine show an extensive array of aromas ranging from citrus fruits, to lemon grass Finishing on a character of both ripe and very refreshing fruit.

Want to drink Sancerre but don't want to pay more than 10 bucks? Me Too! If you find it you let me know! Until then, grab this great Sauvignon Blanc from just south in the Loire with racy acidity, lemongrass and lime peel notes. Great with food or just before dinner.
