The new NV Manzanilla Navazos En Rama is the equivalent for the USA of the Manzanilla I Think, destined for markets other than Spain, the UK or Australia. Like the I Think, it is bottled unfined and unfiltered from a solera averaging four to five years of age. It's younger than the Navazos Pasada or La Bota de bottlings but keeps the character of the Sanlúcar origin. It's very 'Florpower' with a pungent palate, very much about the soil, direct and vertical. This is sourced from some 60 casks and it filled 2,592 half bottles in May 2017. (LG)
This unfiltered wine has been under flor for about four and a half years. With soft saline touches to the notes of ripe white fruit and nuts, this wine contrasts vitality and maturity, an ideal Manzanilla for tapas.
Distinctive, showing fennel, tarragon and marjoram flavors that are a bit atypical, though there are salty, nutty and citrus notes to keep this grounded, with a filigreed walnut echo through the finish. (JM)
