While less expensive than the reserve, I prefer the 2015 Chardonnay. It spent 10 months in 39% new French oak, and has a clean, classic profile, as well as notes of white peach, salted stone fruits and white flowers in its fresh, balanced, lengthy profile.
The 2015 Chardonnay sports a toasty oak and butterscotch-laced nose over a core of ripe nectarines, pink grapefruit and guava. Medium to full-bodied with a pleasant oiliness to the texture, it offers a generous amount of stone fruit and oak-inspired flavors with satisfying persistence. It’s a little old school, but nicely done! (LPB)
The 2015 Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County) is another delicious, budget-friendly wine from Rusack. Yellow orchard fruit, lightly honeyed notes, gentle new oak and a touch of reduction shape the wine nicely. Vineyard sources are Sierra Madre and Bien Nacido, both in Santa Maria. (AG)
