If I understood correctly, this is the final vintage of this product. Sadly. It is Ramey's leanest, most mineral driven, most stainless steel, least-oaked Chardonnay in their line up and it's pretty mind blowing. The minerality they achieved is gorgeous. Something like a high-end Chablis: lean, mineral, full of bright structure, yet texturous. Love this stuff. My first thought upon drinking this was "I wish I could buy cases of this stuff and see how it changes over time."

I'm a big lover of most Sonoma Coast single vineyards and of all the Domestic chards we carry in this store, the Platt Vineyard from Ramey is easily one of my favorites... And considering what we sell a lot of single vineyard chards for, this is quite a fantastic value. Mellow malo and oaky notes, the platt vineyard is just right.

David Ramey has been one of my wine making hero’s since his days at Dominus and Rudd. After a long spell of making others look great he eventually founded his eponymously named winery and earned all the accolades he rightfully deserves. The ’14 Platt Vineyard Chardonnay is one of the most exciting white wines he’s made in years. I was dazzled by its freshness and nerve. For me, it was a dead ringer for a 1er cru Chassagne-Montrachet. It’s wines like this that make us hold our heads up high knowing that California produces such world class wine. Bravo David!

Wow! It's no surprise to me that I had this reaction from one of David Ramey's California Chardonnays. He always manages to get the right balance of fleshy fruit to creamy oak just right. This reaches another level for me though. The note of Key lime on the palate gives a lift to this that provides lively acidity and backbone to a pretty full-bodied white. A note of graham cracker crust takes me the rest of the way for this utterly engaging white. A touch reminiscent of Meursault but firmly California, there is a LOT to like here.

This Chardonnay completely took me by surprise; it's a serious, high acid style that seems to just be emerging and beginning to show its stuff. For any long-time fan of Chardonnay and white Burgundy, the fact that a wine from a great, cooler Sonoma Coast vineyard, made by Ramey, is as good as this should be no surprise, but as always tasting is believing and after tasting, I am a believer. Rich citrus fruit show terrific presence, with a cut and brightness that places it on par with very good, comparably priced Burgundy from a more classic vintage. Yes, this is on the level of comparably priced 2014 white Burg (99.9% of which are long gone..) Don't miss out on this one.

If you are looking for an elegant, expressive single vineyard Domestic Chardonnay, look no further than this vibrant example from Ramey. A little nutty and briochy from the lees contact are a great counter-balance to the fresh fruit and bright acidity present. I was very pleasantly surprised by the long finish and encompassing mouthfeel. I've always turned to Ramey as a great go-to reliable California Chardonnay, and I'm very pleased to add this one to my recommended list.

I was pleasantly surprised, if not shocked with the vibrancy and freshness of this 2014 Chardonnay! After tasting I learned that the Platt Vineyard is the coolest vineyard site that Ramey sources fruit from. The wine shows a laser-like focus, bright green apple hints, minerals and wet stone. Blind this would be tough to pick out as a California Chardonnay. I would drink this wine all day long!
