Kevin Judd's 2015 Pinot Noir is in the dark-fruited style of the vintage, marked by notes of black cherries, cola and spice. It's only medium-bodied, with silky tannins and crisp acids, but it shows the concentrated character found in many of Marlborough's 2015 Pinots. It should drink well for up to decade. The 2015 Pinot Noir has a very attractive, almost Volnay-like bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit and a touch of briar and minerals. This is a serious bouquet that reveals more with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, tightly wound black fruit and a taut, linear finish that suggests another year in bottle will do no harm. Very fine. 90+ points. (NM)
