This is very pretty, opening in the glass with a bouquet of white flowers, hazelnut, crème pâtissière, green pear and a touch of toasted wheat. It's full-bodied, juicy and vibrant, with a charmingly glossy attack and a penetrating, precise finish. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030. (WK)
There is a whisper of menthol to the pungent aromas of mandarin orange, apple and petrol. The bigger and richer if less well-detailed medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing mouth feel that carries over to the saline-inflected, dry and moderately long finish.
Bright, light-medium straw-yellow. Less fruits and flowers on the nose than the village wine, with more rocky character and even a whiff of petrol. Then suppler in the mouth but still a bit edgy despite its superior stuffing, conveying limited sweetness and a slightly spiky character to its mineral and menthol flavors. Niellon has four different vine ages here, with the youngest ones the most productive in 2017, taking the average yield for this wine to 38 hectoliters per hectare. (ST)
