Such a delightful discovery. Majority Shiraz with just enough Mourvedre to elevate, this wine is astoundingly elegant. Dense, ripe blackberries and a kiss of cocoa dominate at first, but soft earth and black tea tannins follow quickly behind. Pepper and a refreshing herbal finish keep it consistently interesting, and I found myself wishing I had bought a second bottle.

This is such a distinctively delicious wine. Not sure how they pack so much flavor into a $14 wine. The wine has plenty of complexity while remaining light on its feet. You’d think a Shiraz / Mourvedre blend would be a big brooding wine. However, I was surprised by the elegance. The wine has plenty of cassis, red and black currant, with the textbook menthol notes. The freshness of fruit along with its elegance make this a highly versatile wine.

MWC focuses on value wines, and judging by this Shiraz Mourvedre blend ,the effort has more than paid off. Mixed berries, creosote and menthol notes on the nose lead to a supple, forward and brightly fruited palate in this easy to drink red. Subtly spicy barrel notes and hints of dark chocolate present themselves as well, but are secondary to the delicious fruit on full display.

It's that time of year where I start to drink more and more shiraz/syrah, and the 2016 MWC is the perfect bottle under the $15 dollar price point. Packed with a lot of dark berries, pepper, and leather, I really want to consume this bottle with a really tasty steak from The Hitching Post II. I think I just found my every day Shiraz, and I think you will too when you try this bottle.

With a light-bodied mouthfeel and fresh, vibrant red fruits, this may not be the Shiraz you expect from Victoria, Australia. This is a fantastic take on how Shiraz can be made into easy-drinking, lighter style wines if put into the right hands. There is a great drive to this wine, with a linear mineral note running down the middle. Crisp and fruity with notes of cranberry and pomegranate, this is a killer deal at $14. Pair this guy with grilled steak or hearty pasta and you've found the perfect Fall dinner wine you can feel comfortable buying by the case-full.
