This is deep and dark with a wonderful depth and intensity. Full-bodied and layered with mushroom and plummy fruit character. Round tannins and a juicy finish. A solid, serious beauty. Triumph for the vintage. Drink or hold.
One of the highlights of this year's portfolio, the 2016 Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin wafts from the glass with aromas of plums, blackberry, raw cocoa, cherry preserve and candied peel. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and generous, with a concentrated core of ripe, succulent fruit that largely conceals its fine tannins through the long finish. (WK)
