Here too there is a lovely perfumed quality to the very fresh red currant and newly turned earth scents where a trace of the sauvage creeps in. I very much like the texture of the medium-bodied and lightly stony flavors that possess very good mid-palate density where once again there is a mild hint of finishing rusticity. This is a particularly good Fixin villages and worth considering.
With the 2016 Fixin, one can clearly see the difference between villages affected by frost and those that were spared damage. This is really a very, very good example, jumping from the glass in a fine blend of cassis, black cherries, grilled meats, dark soil tones and a topnote of bonfire. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and quite suave on the attack, with a good core, fine focus and grip and a long, gently tannic and very tasty finish. This will drink very well right out of the blocks and is a wine to keep an eye out for on well-stocked restaurant lists. A lovely AC. (Drink between 2017-2035)
