A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, the 2013 Columbia Valley Red Wine from Corliss sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as textbook notes of crème de cassis, lead pencil shaving, smoke tobacco and hints of leafy herbs. Full-bodied, concentrated, pure and incredibly elegant, this is a gorgeous red that will benefit from short term cellaring and keep for two decades or more. (JD)
(aged in 65% new French oak for 28 months): Bright ruby-red. Multifaceted nose offers aromas of currant, black cherry, cranberry, cocoa powder, licorice and Belgian chocolate, plus hint of tarry, earthy reduction. Wonderfully plush and utterly seamless, showing more obvious early sweetness than the Cabernet Sauvignon to its fine-grained dark fruit, chocolate and nutty oak flavors. An aromatically seductive wine of outstanding energy and finesse, this beauty finishes with noble, edge-free tannins that slowly saturate the front teeth. Should be fabulous upon its release in 2018.
