This nicely balanced, moderately full-bodied Zinfandel finds a very comfortable place right in the middle of the varietal road with a steady fix on berry-like fruit and the tasteful presence of sweet oak lending a boost in richness throughout. It is not quite as deep and does not command the same degree of attention as the winery's collection of Rockpile bottlings reviewed further on in this issue, but it is no shrinking violet by any means, and it gets good marks for its construction, its unwavering focus and its fine fruity persistence. *One Star*
