Bottled in June 2018, the 2016 Chardonnay opens with decadent nectarine, spiced pears and apple pie scents with hints of lemon tart, orange blossoms and candied ginger plus a waft of marzipan. Full-bodied and rich, with a lovely satiny texture, it has a seamless line of freshness and tons of citrus and stone layers on the finish. (LPB)
This has a rich nose of peach, apricot and pineapple, followed by mango, toffee oak and a wave of delicious vanilla. An opulent wine with underlying citrus notes, minerality and fresh acidity. A complex, never-ending finish puts this wine at grand cru level. Jon Kongsgaard makes some of the best Chardonnays in California; their concentration allows them to beautifully handle a full 22 months ageing in new French barrels. (RS)
The 2016 Chardonnay has really come together during its aging. Fresh and detailed, the 2016 has grown into a wine of total finesse. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper give the 2016 a super appealing upper register that really explodes. Ample and generous on the palate, with tremendous depth, the 2016 is positively stunning. (AG)
Popcorn, butter, cream, melon, toast, apple: a kaleidoscope of flavour. One of the absolute best of its type, with proud oak, full body and gorgeous fruit. (RH) 17.5/20 points
