The 2010 Barolo Riva del Bric shows a high degree of floral intensity with pressed violets and rose followed by bright red fruit and distant spice. The maceration period is relatively brief (15 days) and this has helped to fix the wine’s intensity, both in terms of its appearance and its bouquet. Vinification includes three years in botte grande. Mineral nuances and fresh acidity characterize the finish. (ML)
Firm veins of tannin run through the 2010 Barolo Riva del Bric. Pine, mint, wild flowers and crushed rocks all combine to give the 2010 a sense of pulsating energy and pure tension that is impossible to miss. Rose petal, spice and sweet red berry nuances are layered into the tense, brilliant finish. The 2010 is going to need time in bottle, but it is quite promising. (AG)
Aromas of aniseed and earth with white truffle on the nose. Powerful but elegant tannins offer a complex texture. Coffee beans, wood and velvet on the palate.
Mid ruby with orange rim. Brooding rich cherry and spice. Youthful and lively acidity and fresh fruit and lots of powdery drying tannins. Not enormously long but with real character and style. (WS)
