K&L Notes

Winemaker's notes: "The colour of the wine is bright and limpid. The nose is floral and fruity. Very straightforward and direct on the palate, as if biting into a grape. Fresh and light, with a very pleasant aftertaste."

What a great wine from an incredibly reliable producer! Drouhin always makes nice wine, but the 2017 Macon-Village is firing on all cylinders. It has lovely fruity and floral aromas, racy acidity, soft texture and just a hint of vanilla. All this, just in time for a little springtime sunshine.

It's so exciting to see the 2017 Burgundies hit the shelf after such great anticipation of the fantastic vintage. What better one to start with than one of our favorite producers, Joseph Drouhin. Done all in stainless steel, this wine takes the slightly richer flavors of Macon and brings freshness and vibrancy with tank fermentation and aging. This producer is always on point, and with soft peach, zesty lime acid, and subtle white flower notes, this is truly a great Burgundy for this sub-$15 price point.

This easy drinking and lip-smacking Chardonnay is aged in stainless steal vats which gives it fresh, vivid and vibrant texture, and the palate is bursting with Mirabelle plums and Bartlett pears. It's a gentle, well rounded and balanced wine perfect for enjoying as an aperitif or accompanying white fish dishes.

We've only had a sampling from the 2017 vintage, as these wines are finally hitting the shelves, and overall I'm happy. This little Macon Villages from Drouhin is a great success, and definitely worth more than its modest price point. Bright, fresh and zippy on the palate, with a nice creamy finish, this wine is both lively and classic. I'd certainly recommend it for anyone looking for that great everyday bottle of white Burgundy.

The Mâconnais is a marvelous source for excellent value, bistro-style wines that are simply fresh and fun to drink. This is packed with personality and texture, showing lots of ripe apple, lemon and pear and that zing! of acidity that keeps everything vivacious and bright. With triple digit weather just around the corner, plan ahead and stock up for those hot summer nights!

What a smoking value!! This is literally my new house white. This checks all the boxes: great producer-check (Joseph Drouhin), great vintage-check (2017), great price-check ($13.99) and lastly, it tastes great. Beautiful aromas of Golden Delicious apples and citrus spring from the glass while the palate is a perfect example of what makes the incoming 2017 white Burgundy vintage so exciting. There's copious amounts of beautiful fruit buffered by racy acidity coupled with layer upon layer of complexity, all wrapped up in an elegantly-styled package. What more could you ask for from an under-$14 gem? This is the best deal I have seen in Burgundy in 2019 and you should snatch up as many bottles as you can before this fantastic wine sells out.
Top Value! Drink from 2019 to 2021
