The 2016 Pinot Noir Hilliard Bruce Vineyard comes from a site in the Sta. Rita Hills that's located on the northern edge of the appellation. It has a perfumed, exotic bouquet of passion fruits, framboise, violets, and flowers. With an almost Côte Rôti- like gamy, floral quality, medium body, ultra-fine tannin, and a beautiful finish, it's a terrific Pinot Noir that will keep for a decade.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Hilliard Bruce Vineyard is bright, floral and nuanced, with all of the subtleties this Sta. Rita Hills site is capable of. Freshly cut flowers, mint and red/purplish berry fruit are all pushed forward. Soft curves, silky tannins and radiant fruit all add to the wine's sheer appeal. This is another stand out effort from Kevin Law and Côtière. (AG)

This bottling starts with a soft, supple and extremely layered nose, redolent with aromas of pork in strawberry compote, rose water, wisteria and exotic vanilla bean. Sage, juniper and bay leaf flavors leap from the palate, then settle into a red-plum core, framed by squeaky tannins. (MK)

Pale ruby, the 2016 Hilliard Bruce Vineyard Pinot Noir opens to notes of salted licorice and candied violet—what a gorgeous perfume—with aromas of amaro, moss-covered bark, ripe red and black cherries and warm spice. It's medium-bodied with wonderful layers of fruit, earth and spice, framed by firm, grainy tannins and good freshness, finishing long and spiced. (EB)
