Thomas now sells styles ranging from a classic orange to lavender, chocolate and cardamom. While his emphasis is on bitters that feature a single flavor, each style requires the use of multiple ingredients such as grains of paradise, angelica root, horehound and mace." (Sept/Oct 2010) "A "black lemon" is an earthy, smoky, spice commonly used in middle esatern cooking, and contrary to what the name suggests, is actually a dehydrated lime. The name of the spice was mistranslated from Arabic to English ages ago. Despite not having nay actual "black lemon" in this bitter, the bright and fresh lemon flavor has rich floral notes and deep earthy spices that are reminiscent of the "black lemon," hence the name." - From Scrappy's website
