This opens with aromas of damp soil, dark plums, black cherries and a touch of smoke. The wine is plump and juicy with nice mid-palate weight and no hard edges. There is a surprisingly crisp edge to the sweet and lingering finish of this soft and delicious middle aged Bordeaux that is ready right now.

What a great value for over an over 20 year old wine. Meyney made a very good 1999 and an excellent 2000-one of ralph's favs. Plenty of cassis on the nose and palate of the 1999- lively and mature 21 yr old Bordeaux. Perfect with rack of lamb or even a hamburger
