A blend of dry-farmed, old vines dating back to the 1970s from Maresh Vineyard and the neighboring Weber Vineyard.

Arterberry Maresh is a staff favorite at K&L. I'm pretty sure the staff are buying and drinking as much of it as our customers! Folks looking for classically styled, pure, unadulterated Oregon Pinot Noir need look no further. Arterberry's "Old Vine" bottling comes predominantly from their eponymous estate, Maresh Vineyard, but also has a small percentage of fruit from the neighboring Weber Vineyard. Both vineyards were planted more 45 years ago and are dry-farmed. Intoxicating aromas and flavors of deep red berries mingling with rose petal, forest floor, spice box, sandalwood and nutmeg. Medium bodied, lithe and fresh, the tannin structure is refined and plenty pliable enough to drink right now or for many years to come.

This is a beautiful and classic Pinot Noir. It is light bodied but full of flavor. It is delicate with hints of spice flavors. There is a long finish.

Arterberry Maresh has been one of my go-to names for refined, complex, and flat-out delicious Pinot. Their 2017 “Old Vines” is another remarkable wine, the kind that could be easily mistaken for high-end Burgundy but still carries a stunningly accessible price tag. It is hard not to notice its beautiful transparent ruby color. With notes of cinnamon, thyme, and tart red fruit on the gorgeous aromatics, the palate follows through with crisp cherry, cola, five spice, and fine grain tannins. There is great extract and structure, but the wine is weightless. The finish builds long after the wine is gone. Drink now after a long decant or keep for another decade. It is a remarkable feat of strength to see a wine this generous and dynamic that clocks in at under 13%. This will thrill the modern and traditional camp for Pinot, one of the few that deftly strikes such a delicate balance.
