The Choblet family established their vineyards in 1945 in what would become the Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu appellation. Now three generations deep, brothers Herve and Nicolas Choblet work together from vine to bottle to make some of the most interesting and dynamic Muscadets in the region. The vines are planted on a mix of mica-schist but mostly granitic soils, lending brilliant mineral tones to the wine. It is aged in tank for 8 months sur lie before bottling.     Absolutely delicious! Although there is no denying that Muscadet is perhaps the best pairing with fresh oysters you can find, Muscadet has the crisp acidity and minerality to pair with a wide range of foods! Fresh aromas of citrus and wet rock, bright acid and medium body make this wine perfect for drinking now. But if you have not explored aging Muscadet, then this would be a great wine to buy a case and drink occasionally over the next decade. Beautiful.

    Opening with a pretty and rich bouquet inundated with stone fruits and hints of river rock. The palate is bracing in the best of ways with an intense and cleansing acidity wrapped around a core of quince and white peach. The minerality suggested by the bouquet follows through and is tied in with just the lightest hints of an herbal complexity. 95 points from Decanter and one heck of a screaming deal.

    Muscadet is one of the most misunderstood and underappreciated of wines. Often dismissed as a simple white sipper often paired with oysters, I consider today’s Muscadet to be some of the most interesting and versatile white wines on the market. And, the price point simply can’t be beat. This highly reviewed Muscadet has serious complexity on the nose that is both assertive and pleasing. You can immediately tell that this is a wine of fine pedigree. On the palate, the wine is both viscous and bright with zesty acidity that sends it cruising across your tongue. The wine is immensely drinkable now but will also benefit from a few years in the cellar; provided you can keep your hands off it. Is this the Montrachet of Muscadet?

    You don't often see the words SHOWSTOPPER in the review of a Muscadet and especially one that is only $12, but if ever there was one, this is it! I love the clean lines of Muscadet and please remember this has no affiliation with Muscat, the aromatic-often-semi-sweet variety. Muscadet is the region in the western Loire that is famous for its crisp, mineral driven whites with no oak, that pair easily with shell fish (it is one of the most classic oyster pairings out there) while also making an equally great aperitif. We've been playing with the extra-lees-aged versions from Haut Bourg as well as a few other producers' and they have really elevated the overall quality and intrigue that is coming out of Muscadet. But, I must say, this is one of the best classic, sur lie aged versions I have ever tasted. It is a remarkable Muscadet that delivers Pippin apple, lemon zest and wet stone on the nose. It has tension and length on the palate. It is complex, yet quaffable. Just a remarkable overall expression that will more than satisfy fans of Chablis, Pinot Grigio or any other fans of clean vibrant whites.
